Andrew Porter has hailed his teammates after Ireland's 37-27 win over Wales on Saturday in the 6 Nations Championship.
"It was a very physical game. I think we knew that was coming from the Welsh but it's great that we could get the win with a bonus point," he told Off the Ball's Oisin Langan after the match.
"Obviously I had quite big boots to fill coming in for Tadhg Furlong but the coaches and players really helped me with my confidence the last few weeks but I thought I went alright so I'll be able to build on that for the next game.
"There was a few nerves but I tried to get myself in the best position I could and with 'Bestie' helping me out beside me and the talent we have in our second-rows and in the back-row - I think it was a pack effort.
"We got the bonus point so we'll be happy with that and we'll have a look at the review on our defence. We got caught out a few times so we'll have a look at that and carry it on to the next game."
Asked about his own rapid rise to the international scene, he said: "Yeah, it's been a bit up-and-down from the very beginning but I think with the more games we're getting and the more experience I get - It's really helping me out, especially getting my first start here at the Aviva," he added.
Ireland welcome Scotland to Dublin in two weeks time ahead of a trip to Twickenham on the final weekend of the Championship.
