Andy Lee: "If it was up to me I would still be fighting in Limerick"

Andy Lee says that if the decision was up to him, his world title fight at Thomond Park would still go ahead as planned.

Last week, it was confirmed on Off The Ball that his WBO Middleweight encounter, which was due to take place next month, would now be pushed back to October and also would be moved from Limerick to Manchester.

A virus has affected Lee's preparations, but the Limerick man says he would still have been comfortable keeping to the agreed date and location.

"I didn’t make the decision - if it was up to me I would still be fighting in Limerick. I would have taken a week or two out of training and I would have been OK to get back," he said on Box Nation during today's press conference to publicise the rescheduled fight.

“Adam [Booth] and Frank [Warren] made the call - as much as I protested, they made the decision and they were the ones promoting the fight."
