Andy Murray: "I need to accept that I'm struggling"

Andy Murray says he is optimistic that he will come back from his current slump in form, but admits he doesn't know when that will be.

The world number one takes on Andrey Kuznetsov in the first-round at Roland Garros next week, but comes into the Grand Slam event on the back of disappointing performances in recent months.

Defeat to Novak Djokovic in Qatar at the beginning of the year looked set to ignite their rivalry heading into 2017, but his exit in the Australian Open to Mischa Zverev signalled something more worrying for the Scot.

Victory in Dubai was offset by defeats to 129 ranked Vasek Pospisil at Indian Wells, number 59 ranked Borna Coric in Madrid and Fabio Fognini in Rome earlier this month.

"I haven't played well, I've had a few issues," he told reporters this week. "I need to accept that I'm struggling and find a way to get through it. I will get through it, I'm sure of that.

"When will it happen? I don't know. Hopefully in the next few days at this event. If it doesn't, maybe it happens during the grass.

"The only way to get through it is to keep working on your game and try to understand what's been going right."

Roland Garros is soon upon us and Britain's showpiece, Wimbledon, will be back for its 131st edition later in the summer.

Of his preparation for Roland Garros, he said: "I've still got pretty much everything done that I've needed to do. I was supposed to travel here on Monday, so I travelled on Sunday afternoon.

"That was when I started to feel sick. Monday and Tuesday I didn't feel great, but I still got some practice in on Tuesday.

"I've only got a cough now, but I was sick for a couple of days."
