Artem Lobov picked up his first UFC victory tonight in Las Vegas as he claimed a unanimous decision (30-27) against Chris Avila.
The 'Russian Hammer' dominated all three rounds, delivering a litany of powerful leg kicks which seriously hampered Avila by the end of the opening round.
Lobov remained the aggressor throughout the fight and only really looked in trouble during the final round after slipping and losing his footing. Avila, however, was unable to capitalise on the fall and allowed the SBG fighter back to his feet.
Avila never looked like threatening his opponent tonight, only really finding any fluency with his jab in the second round, attempting to stifle Lobov's forward momentum.
Coach John Kavanagh was clearly impressed with the Russian at the end of the first round, pointing out that Avila's standing leg was "black" from a series of powerful leg kicks.
The result is an important one for Lobov who puts defeats to Ryan Hall and more recently Alex White behind him.
