Barcelona win El Clasico as Lionel Messi marvels

A 92nd minute goal from Lionel Messi gave Barcelona a 3-2 win over Real Madrid on Sunday night.

The result, leaves Barcelona at the top of the La Liga table, on goal difference, from their rivals. Real Madrid have a game in hand, as they look to win their first league title since 2012.

On front of over 81,000 fans in the Santiago Bernabeu, the home side took the lead through Casemiro inside the opening half-hour. Messi scored his first of the game five minutes later to leave the sides level at the break.

The second half saw Barcelona take the lead through Ivan Rakitic with less than 20 minutes to go. The Croatian international scored from outside the box with his seventh league goal of the season.

Real Madrid were reduced to ten men in the final 15 minutes when Sergio Ramos has sent off. The Spanish defender was shown a straight red card for a two-footed tackle on Messi.

The red card looked like it would not harm the home side, as James Rodriguez scored in the final five minutes, to look like maintaining Real's three-point lead.

Messi stepped up, in the final moments of the game, to score the winner, and keep the pressure on Zinedine Zidane's side.

Real have seven games left to play this season, with Barcelona set to play one less. The title is still in Real's hands, but the result on Sunday night keeps a level of suspense in the league.
