Reports in the US media claim the FBI are investigating outgoing FIFA president Sepp Blatter as part of their probe into corruption in world football's governing body.
The 79-year-old announced that he will quit his role just days after being re-elected for a fifth term despite mounting opposition as a result of arrests and bribery allegations made against prominent FIFA officials last week.
ABC News and the New York Times claim their sources have told them that law enforcememt officials are hoping for co-operation from FIFA figures in their bid to build a case against Blatter.
As of yet, the FBI has not made any comments in relation to Blatter.
