Bradford man arrested following Reading striker's racism claim

A 36-year-old man from Bradford has been arrested over claims a racist comment was made to a Reading footballer last night.

The remark was apparently made as Jamaica international Garath McCleary prepared to take a corner against Bradford at the Madejksi Stadium.

The alleged incident marred his side's 3-0 victory, which sealed their first FA Cup semi-final since 1927.

Winger McCleary creating the opener and scoring their second, before he complained to officials before half-time.

The BBC reports: "It was in the run up to half-time with the home side two goals to the good that [McCleary] was in conversation with an assistant referee after appearing to be frustrated by comments made by supporters behind the goal.

"The former Nottingham Forest player took the corner and appeared to be reassured by the official he had spoken to."

Following the match, Reading boss Steve Clarke said that he was aware his player was "upset by something".
