Can Connact maintain momentum with Munster on the horizon?

After a weekend which saw Leinster beat Munster in a poor game and Connacht defeated by Ulster, ex-Ireland second row Trevor Hogan and The Irish Times' Gavin Cummiskey joined Off The Ball to sift through the fallout from both games.

Aside from Challenge Cup commitments, Connacht face Munster in their next Pro 12 match on April 16th, with the pressure on Munster to win as they seek to secure European Champions Cup qualification for next season.

Trevor believes injuries and a European Challenge Cup fixture against Grenoble in the meantime could have an affect on Connacht against a Munster side desperate for victory.

"It's going to be tough because of the lads they've lost, especially at out-half, but I thought Shane O'Leary was class there for Connacht. He was fourth choice but he really ran the game [against Ulster] well," he said.

"I think they could find it hard to keep that momentum now going back-to-back each week and I'd be a bit unlike Gav in that I think Munster will fancy - well, they'll always have to back themselves going up to Connacht - but this time their backs' to the wall, they're going to have to produce and Connacht possibly coming off the back of a Challenge Cup game, they could be stretched a little bit. It's hard to predict in advance but I can see that's going to be the crunch one for Munster."

But Trevor does feel Connacht have the most variety in attack among the Irish provinces this season.
