Cathal Pendred is to return to action in the UFC next month to fight John Howard, who is looking for his first win in four fights.
The Dubliner was added to the undercard of Conor McGregor's forthcoming fight with Jose Aldo. Pendred becomes the third Irish fighter on the card, with McGregor and Neil Seery. Dublin based Gunnar Nelson will also be fighing on June 11th in the MGM Grand.
Pendred is looking to become the only current fighter on the UFC roster to win his first five fights within a year of his debut. Should he win, he will reach that goal with eight days to spare. Pendred made his UFC debut in Dublin last year on July 19th against Mike King.
The fight has come about, due to an injury to British fighter John Hataway. He was due to fight Pendred's teammate Nelsen. The injury meant that Howard's original opponent Brandon Thatch steps up to fight Nelsen and Pendred has been handed the fight with Howard.
Pendred will return to the Octagon less than a month after his previous fight. He defeated Mexican Augusto Montano in Mexico City on June 13th.
