Caulfield calls for consistency from Sadlier after Cork romp to Bray win

Despite an emphatic 4-0 victory away to Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds, Cork City manager John Caulfield has called for his side to improve.

"We scored early and had all the possession," he told Off the Ball's Oisin Langan. "Bray kept their shape so it was always a game where we needed to get the second goal.

"We had a few chances in the first half and didn't put them away. We spoke at half time that we needed to get the second goal and once we got the second goal we knew we'd win the match.

"And, while Bray didn't create a lot, still at 1-0, it's always a dangerous match and once we got the second - the game opened up. We played some great stuff and got some really good goals so I'm very happy with a 4-0 win.

"We got a great second goal, a great fourth goal but overall we were much, much better.

"As I said, in games like this, you have to be patient. You have to keep moving the ball and work hard to get the second goal and once we did that - we were happy enough."

Despite scoring twice in the match, the Cork City manager called on talented attacker Kieran Sadlier to produce more 90 minute performances.

"We saw him getting a spectacular goal which he can do. From my own point of view - I'd like him to do a little more. First half, wasn't very good - second half, he was very good so consistency is the key with 'Sads' and we've spoken about that it's week-in/week-out being consistent.

"He is a magic player but at the same time I keep saying, we see him at training everyday - we know his ability and talent but at the same he needs to be week-in/week-out that he can preform and give a performance from start to finish and that's something that we're working on but there's no doubting his ability.

"I don't criticise him - I encourage him and get the best out of him because he's a special player but at the same time, you have to point out that there's more in him," he added.
