Juventus will be without Giorgio Chiellini for this Saturday’s Champions League final against Barcelona.
The 30 year old defender struggled with a calf problem during training on Wednesday and this morning went for scans to reveal the severity of the injury.
"Giorgio Chiellini has undergone tests which have revealed a first degree lesion in his soleus muscle of his left leg” read a statement issued by Juventus.
"The defender will not be available for the match against Barcelona."
Angello Ogbonna is likely to step into the breach, with a dramatic showdown between Luis Suarez now ruled out.
Chiellini and Suarez were previously involved in an altercation, which saw the Uruguayan striker bite the Italian centre back in the World Cup finals last year.
Two-time European champions Juventus have not reached the Champions League final since 2003, when they finished runners-up to AC Milan.
