Liverpool great Phil Thompson says that he "waited all night for this phone call" as he chatted with Manchester City fan Ivan Yates on Newstalk's Breakfast this morning.
The Reds beat the Sky Blues 2-1 with a couple of cracking goals yesterday and Phil didn't hold back.
"I was at Anfield for the glorious victory," said Thompson. "Where's your side going? What is happening to it? I'm looking around everywhere and there's old men."
"I was expecting Liverpool to be tired," he added. "They only got back (from Istanbul) at half-past-four on Friday morning. It was City who looked tired.
"Liverpool were the much better team, particularly in the second. [City] are going to have to spend a lot more money on this team."
Phil also discussed Louis van Gaal's tactics with Manchester United, and said he expects Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal to fill the Champions League spots at the end of the season.
