Clubs will not receive compensation for Qatar 2022 upheaval

FIFA general secretary Jerome Valcke says clubs will not receive compensation for switching the 2022 Qatar World Cup to winter.

He says there is no reason to apologise for a planned move from summer to a tournament in November and December, as recommended by a FIFA task force.

European Club Association chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge had said that clubs expect compensation for the upheaval.

But Valcke stated that no such thing will occur.

"There will be no compensation. There are seven years to reorganize," he said.

The rescheduling is expected to be confirmed next month.

Valcke also said the Qatar event will be trimmed down from 32 to 28 days, but that exact dates have not yet been set.
