Conor McGregor offered to fight Dustin Poirier on 72 hours notice

The UFC's event in Dublin suffered a blow last night when Joe Duffy was pulled from the main event due to concussion.

Even though the fight was due to take place at Leightweight, UFC Interim Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor offered to step in and fight Dustin Poirier in a rematch of their September bout from last year.

McGregor's next fight is scheduled for December when he faces Jose Aldo Jr in a UFC Featherweight title fight when the two men unify the belts.

It has also been revealed that Antrim's Norman Parke was offered the fight against Poirier last night, and accepted the offer before Poirier turned the chance down. Parke is still scheduled to fight Reza Madadi.

The Antrim fighter made the claim on twitter last night in conversation with journalist Andrew McGahon and the MMA website SevereMMA.com

Speaking to mmalatestnews.com last night, Poirier said "me and my team made a decision to wait until (Duffy) is healthy and to reschedule the fight". Poirier hopes the fight will be rescheduled next year.
