A late Robbie Benson goal for Dundalk denied Cork City the chance to win the SSE Airtricity League in front of their own fans on Monday.
Cork will most likely win the league in the coming weeks and speaking to Off the Ball's Oisin Langan after the match, Cork captain Alan Bennett agreed that a draw was a fair result.
"It probably is yeah," he said, adding: "I was just saying to Dan Murray there we've been waiting 12 years so we can put it off another few weeks, no bother.
"It would have been perfect but we're 11 points off with four games to go so we're a step closer to where we want to be. We have Limerick now on Friday in the cup so that's where our attention turns.

"Our team is kind of going though a transformation that maybe their team went through at the start of the season - we're going through it mid-season with players leaving. You kind of re-jig a few things but to come up with that performance, that was a real pleasing thing.
"Look we have four league games and one cup game and if we preform enough in those games, we'll have had a good season.
Asked about conceding late on, he said: "Yeah, look, the boys have been fantastic. The defending has been brilliant...everyone has been fantastic right across the middle.
"The effort, the press - it's just one of those that's come across. It's taken a deflection off of Griff, it's taken a deflection off Ryan and it just falls in his (Benson's) path.
"Look, as I've said, I've waited 12 years so I don't mind another few weeks."
