Damien Duff released by Melbourne City

Damien Duff's spell in the A-League with Melbourne City has come to an end it's been announced.

The winner was one of five players released by the club this overnight at the Australian season comes to a conclusion.

Duff joined the club last summer from Fulham on a one year deal. His playing time in Melbourne was cut short when he suffered calf and ankle injuries in February.

He scored one goal for the club, making 15 appearances.

The former Irish international is expected to finish his career in the League of Ireland with Bray Wanderers and Shamrock Rovers reportedly amongst the clubs interested in his services.

New Bray Wanderers manager Trevor Croly stated this week that he would love to see Duff arrive at the Carlisle Grounds.
