David Beckham replaced by his son in UNICEF's 'Match for Children'

David Beckham returned to Old Trafford for one more game this evening as he lined out for a Great Britain and Ireland side against a World XI in a UNICEF charity game.

Sir Alex Ferguson also made a return to the technical area as he took charge of GB&I team that didn't feature a single Irishman.

It was a throwback to the early 2000s for many as Beckham lined out on the right of the midfield, with current Man United assistant Ryan Giggs on the left and Paul Scholes pulling the strings in the middle.

All three garnered massive cheers from the Old Trafford faithful while there was a comical hostile reception for ex-Liverpool legends Jamie Carragher and Gary McAllister, but the loudest cheer of the night was for a special moment, as Beckham was replaced by Beckham.

It was a nice surprise as Brooklyn Beckham wasn't named in a squad before the game, but his old man must have told him to bring his boots along, just in case.

The World XI boasted a host of big names in their team, with World Cup winners Cafu, Ronaldinho and Zinedine Zidane as well as other stars such as Luis Figo, Robert Pires, Park Ji-sung, Clarence Seedorf, Patrick Vieira, Dwight Yorke, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer and Michael Ballack.

Despite the obvious quality, they could only score the one goal through Yorke after strikes from Scholes and Michael Owen had the GB&I side leading before Owen grabbed another.
