Derek McInnes: Rangers should be "embarrassed" to finish behind Aberdeen

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes says Rangers should be "embarrassed" at finishing behind his side in the Scottish Premiership this season.

They play each other tomorrow in their penultimate game of the season with the Dons six points clear in second place, and with a much stronger goal difference.

McInnes says Rangers' budget means they are performing well below their level.

His comments come after his opposite number Pedro Caixinha claimed Aberdeen were nearing the end of a "cycle" of being the better of the two teams.

"I find it strange that he feels the need to talk about Aberdeen so much," said McInnes in a press conference.

"If he thinks doing brilliant at Rangers by being on the up by finishing ahead of Aberdeen, he's clearly mistaken.

"The job of a Rangers manager is to finish above Celtic and he should be more concerned about that challenge.

"I think for us, any team that finishes above Rangers in the league, with the budget they have, is doing their work well. They should probably be embarrassed that they've not finished second and I think that any SPL manager with the budget Rangers have would finish second in the league. So I think that he likes to do a lot of talking."
