EXCLUSIVE: "It was between me and Roy and we've patched it up now" - Arter on Keane

Harry Arter is keen to move on from any controversy after settling his issues with Republic of Ireland assistant boss, Roy Keane.

Arter asked to be omitted from the international squad for the games against Wales and Poland in September.

The Cardiff City midfielder spoke to Off the Ball's Dave McIntyre after his side's 1-0 loss to Spurs on Saturday, saying: "It was a frustrating time, last break and as I say, thankfully now everything is sorted and I'll go there with a lot of confidence albeit we haven't started the started the season too well.

"I feel physically in good shape, a lot better than the times I went over last season and hopefully I can try and put in performances for Ireland.

"Me and Roy just had a chat and the chat was private between me and him. I've got the utmost respect for Roy Keane and I was glad we sorted it out.

"I can only speak individually and as I said earlier I've got the utmost respect for Roy as my coach and the respect between me and him is big now. I'm just looking forward to going back over and hopefully put all the negativity to one side.

"Hopefully that's been brushed over now and we can concentrate on the most important thing, and that's playing. That's in my mindset now - to go over and play as well as I can.

"I decided at the start when all this stuff came out and you guys heard through different sources what happened - I decided to stay silent and as I say, it's between me and Roy, we've patched it up now and everything's back to how it should be.

"For me, what has happened in the camp, stays in the camp...I'm not going to tell you guys. It happened between two grown guys and it's sorted now."
