Conor McGregor expects to have an added motivational weapon when he walks to the Octagon later this evening. Legendary Irish singer Sinead O'Connor is to sing The Foggy Dew as McGregor enters the MGM Grand Arena. He also used O'Connor's music on previous occasions including in Dublin last year but how will it compare to other memorable entrances in boxing and mixed martial arts?
Vitali Klitschko
The current Mayor of Kiev and former Heavyweight Champion of the World, was a master in elaborate entrances. For one fight he walked into the arena through a computer generated wall of fire, but his fight against Samuel Peters in 2008 is hard beaten. How many fighters are cocky enough to walk past holograms of past Champions wishing them well? George Foreman, Joe Frazier, Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson all feature in the entrance.
Yoshihiro Akiyama
There are many songs you might expect fighters to enter an arena too. One song you may not have thought of is Time To Say Goodbye by Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman. Japanese star Yoshihiro Akiyama has become as popular for this entrances, as he has for his fights.
Prince Naseem Hamed
Sheffield's Prince Naseem Hamed was one of the most extravagent fighers, boxing has ever seen and his fight entrances lived up to that hype. In 2000, he fought Vuyani Bungu while entering the arena on a flying carpet. The added presence of Puff Daddy added to the spectacle in London.
"Filthy" Tom Lawlor
The UFC fighter may not be one of the best known names in the sport, but he certainly a cult hero among fans for his ring entrances. Lawlor has made his entrances to the ring in many guises and was famous for using costumes on his way to the ring. His most famous entrance was as Apollo Creed from the Rocky movies.
Apollo Creed
If Lawlor felt compelled to dress as Apollo Creed on the way to the Octagon, then surely the original must be pretty impressive too. Despite coming in Rocky IV, Apollo Creed's entrance against Ivan Drago remains a work of art.
