Amir Khan claims Floyd Mayweather is "scared" to fight him

Amir Khan has again claimed that undefeated Floyd Mayweather is scared of getting into the ring with the 28-year-old boxer, saying the Amercian pulled out of a fight at the last moment.

The British boxer said that the 49-0 Mayweather would taste his first pro defeat against him: “He was scared of me, wasn’t he? We were this close to finalizing the fight. But his team backed out at the last moment. They knew that I would beat him."

Speaking to Rediff.com, Khan went on to say: "It was so disappointing. I could have knocked him out. It was such a shame that I didn’t get the opportunity.”

'King Khan' had previously made similar claims, saying Mayweather avoided him back in August and instead picked Andre Berto as his final opponent before retirement.

The Olympic medalist would have to wait until next year for a potential fight with 'Pretty Boy Floyd', as he readies himself for a planned bout against Manny Pacquiao, with a date early in 2016 being touted.

The Bolton native last lost in 2012, when he was knocked out by Danny Garcia but he has won five fights since, and should he defeat Pacquiao, he can then look forward to a potential fight in Wembley with IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook.
