Ireland's Paralympic team arrived back in Dublin on Wednesday afternoon after their heroics in Rio de Janeiro.

The team won 11 medals in Brazil, and were led into the Arrivals Hall by gold medallists Jason Smyth and Michael McKillop. The two athletes have won gold medal in their third successive Paralympic Games.

Cyclists Eoghan Clifford in the Velodrome and Katie George Dunlevy and her pilot Eve McCrystal completed Ireland's four gold medal-haul as the team beat their eight-medal pre-Games target.

The discus was Ireland's most successful event in Rio, with Orla Barry and Niamh McCarthy winning silver and Noelle Lenihan adding a bronze.

Colm Lynch won a silver medal, along with Dunlevy and McCrystal who added a second medal to their total. Clifford won a bronze to go with his gold, while Ellen Keane also won a bronze in the swimming pool.

Homecoming events for the Irish team will take place around the country in the coming days.
