Ger Loughnane: Return of 2013 hunger would give Clare 'great chance' of beating Limerick

Ger Loughnane believes a return of the spirit and hunger of 2013 will help Clare defeat Limerick and give them a boost in their provincial and national hopes for 2015.

The two-time All-Ireland winning former Clare manager joined us on Off The Ball tonight and gave his take on the Banner's chances of improving upon a poor 2014 and disappointing Allianz League campaign in the spring.

"That's what were hoping for on Sunday, that we'll see a totally different team from the one we saw last year. It's so unexpected what they did in 2013 and so welcome. And then the celebrations were so great. I always thought that last year might be a bit of a down year. I know that type of thing doesn't happen in Kilkenny or counties that are used to winning All-Irelands but here when people win the All-Ireland they really celebrate, so you would excuse last year," he said.

"Their form in the league has been very, very worrying but at the same time the feeling around here is that training is going really well, they're keeping the head down and we're all hoping that we'll see that hunger and desire back on Sunday. So, if those players have that, then they have a great chance of beating Limerick."
