Giles: 'If Arsenal lose this, there will be more calls for Wenger to go'

On Thursday night's Off The Ball, John Giles spoke about some of the Cup final pain he endured as a player with Leeds United.

But the Ireland legend also gave his take on an interesting match-up between Arsenal and Aston Villa in today's showpiece at Wembley.

Is a second FA Cup in a row progress for Arsenal?

"They haven't threatened for the league and that's really the test of a team that's consistent. It's consistency that wins it.

"I've always said over the years, anybody can win the Cup in any given year and that's true because it's mostly six matches. So you don't have to be that consistent to win the Cup. I think Arsenal fans would be looking for more. I think they'd really want to be challenging for the Premier League and they haven't done that.

"But to win the Cup back-to-back is no mean feat either."

Any hope for Villa?

"I think it's going to be a good game. I wouldn't think Villa would be as big an outsider as people might imagine. They were certainly second favourites [against Liverpool] going into that match and they totally out-played Liverpool. They were very, very good.

"I saw them against Manchester City as well and they were very, very good. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if they won it."

How much pressure will Arsene Wenger be under if they lose?

"It's a big game for Arsenal. I think if they lose this, there will be more calls for Wenger to go."
