Giles: Midfield need to step up for Coleman to shine

Nobody can run the game from right-back. It's impossible. Full-backs, in general are expecting other people to create before they come into the position to attack.

First of all they are defenders and Seamus Coleman is very good. But I think the way with the Irish team, most of the time, we haven't played particularly well in the middle of the field.

If you don't play well in the middle of the field, it's not going to create anything for the full-back.

The full-backs can't do it on their own. They're always depending on other people to do it.

If we play well enough, Seamus Coleman will come into the game. He's a top class player, a really top class player.

As for Scotland, I think in the campaign so far, they've played better than us.

But it's a new game on Saturday and things can change. I think they are justified in feeling more confident than us.

But every game is different. I wouldn't be that optimistic (from an Ireland perspective). I'd be more hopeful than optimistic.

I hope it goes well us and I hope we win the game and keep in the competition.

But I think Scotland have played better than us and a draw would be more likely than a win for us.
