Golden State Warriors book place in NBA Finals

Golden State Warriors have booked their place in the NBA Finals after a 96-88 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 7 of the NBA's Western Conference Finals.

The Warriors, who are the reigning NBA Champions are the first team since the 1981 Boston Celtics to come back from 3-1 down in a Conference Finals and win the series. The team are only the tenth ever to do so in the history of the NBA Playoffs.

MVP Steph Curry was the game's top scorer. The 28-year-old scored 36-points. His coach Steve Kerr hopes the performance will answer some of Curry's critics. After the game, Kerr revealed why he thinks Curry has been finding it tough to gain acceptance in the series.

Despite the eight-point win, the Warriors trailed by six at half time. The teams drew level midway through the third quarter, and once the Warriors took the lead, they never let it slip.

Curry scored seven three-pointers on the night, the same amount has the Thunder team combined. His team mate Klay Thompson scored six.

"You appreciate how tough it is to get back here," Curry said after the win. "You've got to be appreciative of this accomplishment, and look forward to getting four more wins."

The Warriors will now face LeBron James' Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals. The two teams met at the same stage last year when Golden State won the best-of-seven series 4-2. The first game takes place in California on Thursday night.
