"Great games mean nothing to us. It's about winning" - Colm Cooper

Kerry go into this Sunday's game looking to retain their title and win their 38th All Ireland overall. Eamonn Fitzmaurice will have the opportunity to call on the services of Colm Cooper this year after he missed out on last years final.

Cooper tore his cruciate ligament and fractured his knee when playing for Dr Crokes in February last year. He admitted earlier this year that if the injury happened 20 years ago he may have had to quit the game.

Oisin Langan spoke to Cooper about his return to the squad ahead of this Sunday's All Ireland Final with Dublin in Croke Park and his hopes for winning a fifth All Ireland medal.

"I certainly have a greater appreciation for it now, knowing that you might not get back here for a number of years or never get back here again. You want to make it count." Cooper told Oisin despite playing in eight previous finals.

"I remember times when my knee wasnt bending correctly" said Cooper about his recovery. He added that his recovery was complicated by the fact the he fractured his knee too.

Cooper is looking to win his first All Ireland title since 2009 and plays in his first final since 2011. Despite the quality of recent games against Dublin, the Killarney native just wants to see his side win on Sunday. "We played great games against Dublin in recent year, but we came out the wrong side. Great games mean nothing to us. It's about winning."

You can listen to Oisin's interview with Colm Cooper in full on the Rewind Podcast.
