"He is absolutely still lying to this day" - Betsy Andreu talks about Lance Armstrong

Betsy Andreu appeared on the Colette Fitzpatrick Show to talk about the new Lance Armstrong movie starring Ben Foster, The Program, and how close it was to real life.

The story of the film focuses on David Walsh's battle to prove that Lance Armstrong was doping, and Betsy noted it was important to see it through that lens, rather than being exclusively about Lance.

However, she did note that Foster's performance was strong as Armstrong, but that he might have gone a bit far in his preparations for the role, which apparently included taking performance enhancing drugs to see what effect they have.

"I think that's kind of silly. I'm not an actress but...maybe if he was really able to get into the role that way that maybe justified it, but I had a little bit of concern".

"There's a scene where Ben Foster just went off, he became unraveled [as Lance] talking about me and Emma O'Reilly, and then there were two scenes that I think really depicted the disbelief and how disheartened we all were to know that were telling the truth and Lance just kept getting ahead. You see David Walsh reading this retraction and apology that has to be printed and Bob Hamman having to pay Lance millions that he just stole from him. You really get the sense that this guy was a criminal and the world still loved him".

She added that she felt that Lance was still lying to this day and that he will do anything to perpetuate the Armstrong lie.

When Colette asked if Andreu was at peace with what Lance had done, she added that she was not, saying "there's going to come a point where there's going to be an eye roll and a shrug and I'll say 'at this point I actually pity the guy', but I'm not there yet".

She did add that she feels some degree of redemption in the fact that the truth did come out, showing that she had been telling the truth all these years.

"Being at the premiere with David [Walsh] and his family, I was absolutely thrilled [...] In the end, through the public humiliation and trying to destroy my reputation, the truth won out, and I hope it inspires anyone else who's in a situation where money and power seem to be more important, that the truth does matter".

When asked if there was anything that she'd say to Lance directly, she added that she's not sure that there is little that anyone can say to him, but that he should think of what effect his actions are having on his family:

"For the love of you own children, just stop. Make amends with every single person [...] but I honestly don't think there's anything that anyone can say to him".
