The UFC will host a fight night in New York for the first time since MMA was legalised in the state, and the card contains a collection of intriguing fights.
Marquee fighters including Miesha Tate, Frankie Edgar and Joanna Jedrzejczyk will feature on the night with a Lightweight title fight between Conor McGregor and Eddie Alvarez headlining the event.
Since McGregor's introduction to the UFC roster, his profile has enjoyed a significant rise and the wealth generated for the UFC on the back of his fights has earned him a certain amount of bargaining power with the franchise. Since claiming the Featherweight title, McGregor has entitled him to pursue the opportunity to hold two titles simultaneously in different weight classes.

But as his level of bargaining power has increased, the Crumlin man's relationship with his employers has soured on occasion. Ahead of his scheduled rematch against Nate Diaz at UFC 200, McGregor was thrown off the card for failing to fulfil media obligations in accordance with his UFC contract. He sparked frustration in UFC president Dana White again in the lead-up to the rescheduled fight when he arrived late to the press conference and then engaged in a fracas with Diaz's camp with both parties throwing water bottles at each other.
Speaking ahead of Game 3 of the World Series, Dana White opened up on the subject of negotiating with 'The Notorious.'
"He's a little tough to deal with, but he's worth it. All the other antics and everything aside, Conor McGregor will step up and fight anybody, anywhere, any time. I've never been in a situation where somebody pulls out the week before a fight and he literally does not care who he fights."
White also spoke of his excitement ahead of UFC 205 and said 'it's the biggest baddest card we've ever done in the history of the company.'
