Hoey flies under the radar and straight into contention

Michael Hoey and Peter Lawrie have both moved into contention at the half-way stage of the BMW International Open.

Hoey is tied for second place after a superb round of 65 today that has seen him rocket up the leaderboard to 10-under par, while Lawrie carded a 67 on day two to climb to 7-under.

The out-right leader in Munich is Rafa Cabrera Bello who has opened up a two-shot cushion on 12-under par.

Despite holding a share of second place heading into the weekend, Hoey is determined to keep himself anchored.

"I didn't have much expectation today and that works well in golf. So it's low expectation, high process and see what happens," he said.

Kevin Phelan could only pick up one shot today to move to 5-under, while Darren Clarke has finished on 3-under.

After a promising US OPen showing, Shane Lowry has produced a run of birdies to also climb to 3-under, while Damien McGrane is also on that mark out on the course.
