'I just felt my leg break' - Waterford's Pauric Mahony

As Cork and Waterford prepare for a huge Munster championship clash this Sunday, the Deise's centre-foward Pauric Mahony misses out as a result of a serious injury sustained in a club game last month.

While the 23-year-old confirmed he is making progress in his recovery, he looked back at the moment which threw his season into doubt on Off The Ball tonight.

"It's just one of them things really. I was running through with the ball and the full-back came out and I handpassed the ball over his head and I turned my body and then my foot just got caught in the ground and on impact then I just felt my leg break and then I just hit the ground. After that it's all a bit of a blur."

Mahony's brother Philip, who is also on the Waterford panel, also experienced a leg break last year and has been a great support to his younger sibling.

Looking ahead to Sunday's clash at Semple Stadium, Mahony also praised the work of his manager Derek McGrath, who led the Deise to league glory this year for the first time since 2007.

"He's someone who we'd all very much look up to and we all want to follow in his path as best we can. We're going in the right direction if we're following him," he said, while the Ballygunner clubman also charted his route as a free-taker.
