In Pictures: Kerry topple Donegal in Tralee brawl while Mayo secure vital win

Kerry 1-13

Donegal 1-08

Kerry overcame Donegal in an ugly game that saw two players shown red cards after numerous brawls erupt in an ill-tempered affair in Tralee.

Kerry forward Alan Fitzgerald was given his marching orders after striking out on Neil McGee, while Leo McLoone soon followed him down the tunnel for a similar offense.

The football on the pitch wasn't much better in a stop-start affair, with Kerry four points ahead at the break.

Donegal mounted a comeback and drew themselves level before Peter Crowley raised the green flag to hand the initiative back to the Kingdom.

A six-point gap opened up before Michael Murphy netted for Donegal, but they were unable to close the distance between the two on the scoreboard.

Roscommon v Down

Roscommon 1-12

Down 0-06

Roscommon all but secured their division one status for next year after comfortably seeing off Down at Pearse Park in Longford.

The Rossies lost home advantage due to unplayable conditions at Hyde Park, but they didn't let that affect them as they took a commanding lead early on that they never relinquished, leading 0-07 to 0-04 at the break.

To Down's credit, they refused to be brushed aside, with points from Connaire Harrison and Mark Poland keeping them in contention, but eventually they folded under the pressure of Roscommon's attack.

Captain Ciaran Murtagh sealed the points with the game's only goal from the penalty spot, putting Roscommon 10 to the good late on and bringing his own personal tally to 1-06.

Monaghan v Mayo

Monaghan 1-12

Mayo 2-11

Goalkeeper Robbie Hennelly struck late to give Mayo a crucial win over Monghan in Clones earlier today, keeping their head above water in division one.

Conor McManus sparkled for the Farney men, scoring 1-08, but his solo act wasn't enough as goals from Conor Loftus and Diarmuid O'Connor proved decisive.

Mayo did well to survive early set backs, as Aidan O'Shea shown a black card and McManus netting from the rebound of his penalty. However, they responded well with a goal of their own via Loftus.

It was neck and neck throughout, with Mayo leading by a point at the interval before opening up a lead after the break thanks to O'Connor's goal.

Monaghan closed the lead and it remained tight to the end, with Hennelly's two late frees proving to be the match winners.
