Ireland will know Rugby World Cup host fate in 2017

Ireland will find out in May 2017 if it has been successful in its bid to host the Rugby World Cup in 2023.

Governing body, World Rugby has confirmed that it will announce a decision in just over two years time, with formal expressions of interest due to start on May 14th this year.

The IRFU's bid, which will be backed by the GAA and the Irish Government, is expected to face tough competition from the likes of Italy and from South Africa, who have already confirmed that they intend to bid for the tournament.
