Is Marcos Mariota the NFL's new superstar quarterback?

Last Sunday night marked the return of the National Football League to our television screens. For the next 16 weeks, fans around Ireland and further afield will be glued to America's game as the regular season comes to close.

Donny Mahoney from balls.ie joined Joe in studio last night to look back on the first week of the regular season as the journey towards Santa Clara for SuperBowl 50 begins.

One on the weekend's most intriguing match ups was between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tennessee Titans. The two sides and the first two picks in the NFL Draft and picked the two best quarterbacks from college football in Jameis Winston and Marcos Mariota.

It was Mariota's Tennessee side who won the game beating the Buccaneers 42-14, with the quarterback impressing everyone. Has a rivalry already began in the professional game between Winston and Mariota and both will continue to be compared to each other throughout their careers.

One of the NFL's classic rivalries continued at the weekend, as the New York Giants traveled to Texas to face the Dallas Cowboys. It was a game the Donny told Joe was already "one of the most sickening defeats of the season" as the Cowboys came from behind in the final ten seconds to win 27-26.

You can hear Donny speak to Joe about more action from the weekend's action in the NFL including the beginning of Jim Tomsula's reign in San Francisco.
