"It might be a while before you see everyone clicking fully" - James Milner reflects on Liverpool's win against Stoke

After Liverpool managed to get a win against Stoke with a moment of magic from Philippe Coutinho, our own Nathan Murphy caught up with James Milner after the match to talk about life at his new club.

Milner spoke about the preseason tour that saw them travelling around the globe, but highlighted that it was physically good preparation for a tough opening game where they would be asked to do a lot of running.

He also spoke about the balance in the dressing room between young and experienced players, and that it was an exciting time to be involved with the club as a result. However, that brought its own challenges, as Milner highlighted: "it might be a while before you see everyone clicking fully, but if we can play good enough to get wins until that happens, then that's brilliant, but I'm sure we'll get better and better each game as we go on".

Being at a club that has a history of success but hasn't tasted any silverware in a while, Milner was also aware of the aspirations and the level that the fans hope to get to, saying that the atmosphere in the dressing room is one of confidence and support.

"We've got a really good bunch and a really good mix of homegrown and foreign players, as well as younger and older guys. It's a bit different to look at the dressing room now as one of the older players, but that's a good thing, hopefully I can use my experience from winning titles and also being relegated to help them along. The better players they become, it makes my life easier".
