Irish horse trainer Gordan Elliott enjoyed a 'Super Sunday' yesterday by winning six out of the seven races on the card at Navan.
This unprecedented feat had odds of 41,276/1 and amounted to an estimated €1.9m in prizemoney. But speaking to Joe Molloy on Off The Ball this evening, the 38-year-old said he was unaware of his historical achievement.
"I didn't realise until I saw the papers today and some of the press were telling me yesterday. It was nice to do it, we thought going into the day that death duty was our best chances but to do six was unbelievable."
Speculation is building about Elliott's likelihood of bringing Willie Mullins’s nine-year reign as Ireland’s champion National Hunt trainer to an end this year. But the Meath based trainer was quick to dismiss those notions.
"I just keep my feet on the ground. Willie Mullins is obviously an amazing man and the firepower he has is brilliant. If I can keep improving every year and stop making mistakes, hopefully some day it'll happen."

Bull Ride and Three Swallowsnick were among the winners for Eliott's team with Empire of Dirt securing his third Troytown Chase in-a-row. But his other winner Death Duty is the one that Elliott selected as a prospect for the future.
"I suppose the highlight was winning the Troytown, the big race of the day and it's our third year in a row doing it. Looking to the future, death duty is the one we're really looking forward to, it was a great day."
Eliott also discussed his young jockey Jack Kennedy, who rode two of his winners at Navan.
"He's only 17, you wouldn't believe it. He came up to me three or four years ago for a couple of summer holidays, his brother Paddy sent him up to us. He's an old head on young shoulders. He's very laid back, nothing seems to phase him. If he can keep injury free, he's got a massive career and we're very lucky to have him."
"He's a different man (when he's on a horse). Out there, it's every man for himself. He's very natural and quiet and an unassuming kind of fella."
