Seven games into the season, Connacht are looking down on the entire Guinness Pro 12 at present as they top the table.
Former Ireland second-row Trevor Hogan joined Off The Ball tonight and pointed out how dangerous Pat Lam's side has been in their march to the summit, but also highlighted that they need to "tighten up" defensively.
There is also speculation over Robbie Henshaw's future at Connacht, with the player speaking about the situation and it would be a blow for the province to lose such a talent, if that is what occurs.
"It would be a real sickener," Trevor agreed, "He's probably going to have to leave long-term, but you don't want to see it happening.
Trevor continued: "I'd love to see Connacht being really competitive in the Champions Cup and having four teams doing it. But we might be in a better position after the group stages to see where we're at domestically, whether we can realistically expect three as it is now - and dream of getting four - and getting them out of the group stages. I don't know whether we're going to have to concentrate our strongest players in a couple of provinces, hoping then to challenge because there is a sea change coming in Europe. If you look at it on paper, how is anyone going to compete with Toulon at the moment."
Trevor also looked at how the provinces will select their sides ahead of the first round of Champions Cup fixtures, weeks after the end of the World Cup, with Leinster in particular having a huge number of players involved on the international scene.
