The 29 year old has been a consistent performer for the Tallaght club last season starting all but one of their games which makes this transfer all the more bizarre.

“Yeah which makes you ask, Did I deserve to get let go?”

“It’s a strange one but it’s the manager’s decision. Only time will tell if it’s the right one.”

“I have to look forward to next season and hope to set the same standards at my new club.”

Madden told how the big decision was made on his future after he left the club on holidays at the end of this season.

“I didn’t really know what was gonna happen.”

“I was actually on holiday (when it happened).”

“We had a phone call and he said he wanted to go a different way.”

However Madden has insisted that there are no hard feelings whatsoever towards Stephen Bradley and Shamrock Rovers.

“He wanted to have a sit down with me and have a chat and I was away”.

“To be fair to Stephen he wanted to chat face to face”.

“Over 6 years I gave everything (to Shamrock Rovers) and I am able to look back with pride”.
