'It's a football miracle' - Bournemouth club legend John Williams

Bournemouth club legend John Williams has described the Cherries' de-facto rise to the Premier League as a footballing miracle.

The ex-defender and former caretaker manager was speaking to Off The Ball about the club's promotion and spoke about the influence of chairman Jeff Mostyn and Russian owner Maxim Demin.

"Jeff kept us going when we needed him but the Russian chap is a bit strange. He's obviously all for the football club, there's no doubts about that. But he doesn't want any publicity and does't want to know about interviews. I think the whole way things have gone is he's backed Eddie Howe the manager," said Williams.

But he also highlighted the stellar work of 37-year-old manager Eddie Howe, who spent much of his playing career at the Cherries.

"He is the one who has taken things forward in such a way that it's absolutely incredible. It's a football miracle," he said, describing Howe as "shrewd" and someone who will "go on to bigger things" someday.

Williams also praised Ireland newcomer Harry Arter, who has starred in a midfield playing exciting football.
