Jeff Hendrick reveals his admiration for Zidane

Ireland midfielder Jeff Hendrick has picked out France legend Zinedine Zidane as his all time favourite player.

The Burnley player was speaking on Off the Ball with Joe Molloy and Kevin Kilbane on Tuesday as Friday night's World Cup qualifier against Wales closes in.

A Manchester United fan as a youngster, it was a former Real Madrid and Juventus attacking midfielder who caught his eye - and still captures his imagination.

"My all time favourite would be Zinedine Zidane. Just the way he played the game was unbelievable," he said.

"Even growing up, when I had a bit of time, I'd put on YouTube and watch clips of him and he wouldn't have been the quickest player but his touch and how far ahead he was thinking... he was always a few steps ahead the way he manipulated the ball, he always kept it away from players.

"He was brilliant to watch and now if you look back at any sort of clips of him on YouTube, I just admire how good he was and he doesn't get the credit that other players are getting. For me, he's one of the all time greats."

Hendrick also looked back at Euro 2016 where he had a positive tournament and also discussed the switch from Derby County to Premier League Burnley last summer.
