Jonathan Walters says he didn't see anything wrong with Shane Duffy's late disallowed goal against Austria on Sunday evening, claiming the aerial contest would only ever have "one winner".
Walters scored Ireland's only goal in a 1-1 draw at the Aviva Stadium and the point leaves them in second position behind Serbia in Group D of the European World Cup Qualifiers.
Speaking after the game, the Stoke City forward said he saw no foul committed by the Brighton defender.
"They [the officials] have a hard enough game as it is, but it was one of those games where a lot went against us," he said.
"I mean, look at the goal. The lad [Stefan Lainer] is 5'5 or 5'6 and you've got Duffy coming in. There's only one winner in my eyes. There's no foul, he got a running jump.
"It's common sense that one. They said there would be ups and downs, we wanted the three points and we didn't get them."
Ireland didn't really settle into the game until the second half, having already fallen behind to Martin Hinteregger's goal on 31 minutes.
"We're disappointed with how we started in going one-nil down. I think we should have come away with the win.
"The way we played in the second half is how we want to play from the beginning. That tempo suits us. We're still in it, it's in our own hands."
