Keane's got some interesting thoughts on Sherwood to Villa

Roy Keane's most recent autobiography might be just a wee bit over six months old, but it's already had an update.

The Ireland assistant has some interesting thoughts on current Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood in the updated version which takes in some of the experiences after Keane left Villa Park.

Sherwood replaced Paul Lambert, who was sacked in February, but based on extracts published in the Daily Mail, Keane seemed to suggest that Sherwood was angling for the job in the Scotsman's final weeks in charge.

"I went to watch Villa against Bournemouth in the FA Cup a few weeks before Paul was sacked and Tim Sherwood was sitting behind me. I just thought, 'All right....

"Some men go to matches if they think there's a job there for them. I believe Tim had been at two or three games.

"It's not a criticism of Tim. It's part of the game, it's the industry we're in.

"I'd go the other way myself. If I thought the manager was under pressure and I was somehow being linked to the job, I'd avoid the place."

Keane was also critical of Villa striker Christian Benteke, who is in a superb vein of form. Read more here.

Since Sherwood has arrived at Villa Park, their form in front of goal and in the Premier League has improved and they have reached this season's FA Cup final against Arsenal.
