Waterford legend Ken McGrath spoke to Off the Ball last night ahead of the All-Ireland semi-final between Waterford and Kilkenny this weekend about what his memories of playing against the Cats were, and what the current squad will be thinking as they head into a huge game like this.
McGrath was involved in the fairly one-sided 2008 final, but points out that the rest of that season had been a success for Waterford. However, he still regards it as one that got away and warned that the current panel will need to take their chances when they come, as you never know when you might get another chance at a semi-final.
McGrath was quick to point out that this Waterford side already has a number of winners who have minor medals and are no strangers to success, so for them the key will be not getting over-awed by the occasion and making sure that they play with the same freedom and determination that helped them to see off Dublin.
