"When you’re playing Dublin in Croke Park, there’s a lot of factors against you," Galway manager Kevin Walsh told OTB AM.
He acknowledged that his side had struggled to adapt when playing at HQ:
"I’ve got to, you know, be realistic in this and understand that was probably the first time nearly all those guys had togged-out in front of 60,000 [people] shouting and roaring."
"I think it’s important for every team to get to Croke Park as often as possible because you really have two factors to deal with.
"As I said to you, the goalposts aren’t as visible as in pitches that people have played at."
Walsh cited the experience in Dublin's squad and added that teams like Mayo have learned to manage the experience of playing in Croke Park.
"That environment is a huge [factor], it’s a barrier to get over, but look-it, we have to get over that," he concluded.
Walsh also spoke to OTB AM about Paddy Tally leaving the Galway coaching team to become Down's new manager.
