Paddy Power have revealed some of the sporting results from 2014 that led to the bookmaker posting record pre-tax profits for the year.
Their preliminary annual report shows that the company returned a record pre-tax profit of €167m in 2014, a 21 per cent increase on the previous year.
And now Paddy Power have shown off some the outcomes that saw them cash-in most:
• World Cup final between Germany & Argentina – draw at 90 minutes
• Champions League final between Real Madrid & Athletico Madrid - draw at 90 minutes
• Grand National won by 25/1 shot Pineau De Re
• 2000 Guineas at Newmarket won by 40/1 long shot Night of Thunder ahead of Kingman and Australia
• Germany raider Protectionist winning the Melbourne Cup
And while the Paddy Power took a couple of body-blows last year with these ambitious accumulators ...
• £20,280 win on a £1, 14-team accumulator
• £18,000 win on £1, 17-team accumulator
... they were both blown out of the water already this year when a Galway punter won more than €216,000 on a €1, 17-team accumulator last week:
