LOI Premier Division Round up: Dundalk outclass Drogheda United in Louth derby

Dundalk enjoyed a  night to remember as the reigning League of Ireland champions thrashed Drogheda United 6-0 away in the Louth derby.

Stephen Kenny's side saw David McMillan and Ciaran Kilduff both score twice either side of goals from Patrick McEleney and Michael Duffy.

But all six goals came after Drogheda's Thomas Byrne was sent off just after the half hour mark.

Runaway league leaders Cork City maintain their 18 point gap over Dundalk though after a 4-1 win at home to Limerick in an all Munster clash.

Preston bound Sean Maguire gave Cork the lead before Rodrigo Tosi levelled for the away side.

But goals from Stephen Dooley, Maguire once more and Jimmy Keohane saw John Caulfield's side continue their outstanding season.

Bray Wanderers got back on track thanks to a 3-2 win over fifth place Derry City to end a run of four matches without a win.

Darragh Noone, Ryan Brennan and Tim Clancy's 81st minute winner helped Bray over the line at the Carlisle Grounds, while Ronan Curtis and Nathan Boyle netted for the Candystripes.

Bohemians came from behind to earn a 3-1 win at St Patrick's Athletic which leaves the away side second from bottom.

Alex O'Hanlon had given Pats the lead but that was cancelled out by three Bohs goals delivered by Oscar Brennan, Daniel Corcoran and Georgie Poynton.

Shamrock Rovers earned a 1-0 win at Finn Harps to stay well in the mix in the battle for the Top Four and had Michael O'Connor's 43rd minute goal to thank.
