Lazio sell just 11 season tickets ahead of Serie A campaign

Lazio sold just 11 season tickets on the first day tickets became available for the supporters ahead of their new campaign.

It seems supporters are taking the Marcelo Bielsa approach and avoiding the club at the moment after the Argentine coach left just two days after being appointed manager of the club.

According to ESPN, Lazio sold just 12,800 season tickets last season, which was a record low for the club. Phone lines opened on Monday but the phone operators had an easy day and only completed 11 applications on the day.

Supporters of the club took to the streets to protest against Claudio Lotito, who was blamed for Bielsa's resignation. Bielsa claimed seven targets he had identified as potential signings had not been brought in and highlighted the 18 players who left the club having been a part of the squad last season.

Bielsa said, "After four weeks working together with you, we could not sign any of the seven additions in the work programme expressly approved by the president, Claudio Lotito."

"We also take into account the departure of 18 players who were involved in the previous season.

"It was agreed as essential to the implementation of the work programme that we would sign at least four footballers before July 5, with the objective that they would be able to participate in pre-season."
