'Man United definitely interested in Ramos'

The transfer window is in full swing and the rumour mill continues to spin, and one of the biggest talking points this week is Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos.

The World Cup and Champions League-winning centre-back has reportedly told Real that he wants to leave the club and the talk is that Manchester United are interested in bringing him to Old Trafford.

United We Stand fanzine editor Andy Mitten suggests that Ramos is setting the scene for a switch.

"He thinks he should have been offered a contract by now. His current one expires in the summer of 2017. With that not happening and also with Madrid briefing against him in the media - which they often do - he has instructed his brother, who acts as his agent, six weeks ago to start sounding out other clubs," Mitten told Off The Ball tonight.

He says the first club contacted was Barcelona but that they are covered in defence, which leaves the likes of Manchester United, City and PSG according to Mitten.

"United are definitely interested. I've checked it out and they want to do something with Madrid, resigned to the fact that David De Gea wants to go to Madrid. They're very reluctant to let David De Gea go for a low fee, steeled like they won't be bullied by Real Madrid, don't hold Florentino Perez in the highest regard."

Mitten suggested that United are willing to play hardball and also hold an interest in a number of Real players, including Gareth Bale. But he also admitted that Ramos is more likely to stay at Real than join United.
