Man of the match Firmino was presented with a bottle of champagne and didnt realise he could keep it

It's safe to say the Roberto Firmino's Liverpool career has not started the way he would have liked.

The Brazil star joined the Premier League side last summer from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim but has failed to nail down a starting position  at Anfield in the opening months of the season.

Last night the 24 year old shone in Liverpool's 1-0 League Cup victory over Bournemouth. Despite not scoring the midfielder was a dangerous presence throughout for Jurgen Klopp's side.

Firmino was named man of the match last night and was interviewed with goalscorer Nathaniel Clyne after the game. When presented with a customary bottle of champagne to cap the award, Firmino tried to give it back at the end of the interview but looked delighted when he was told he could keep it.

Despite the Brazilian's outstanding performances in Germany last year, the presentation of bottles of champagne for man of the match awards must not be part of the German or Brazilian culture.
