Martin O'Neill: 'If we went out with a whimper, I'd have to look at myself'

Martin O'Neill says he may have to review his position if the Republic of Ireland's Euro 2016 qualifying campaign peters out.

Ireland currently sit fourth in Group D, two points adrift of Germany in second, and a Scotland side who visit the Aviva in June.

Speaking at the launch of the SportsWorld FAI Summer Soccer Schools, O'Neill says that although he sees it as unlikely, a poor finish to the campaign may force his hand.

"If we went out with a whimper here in the competition, I would have to look at myself at the end of the day. But if we perform and show what we're capable of doing and showing the drive and determination that we showed against Poland - and in fairness, most of the qualifying campaign - then I would certainly have a look at it," said O'Neill, whose contract runs out after the Euro 2016 campaign.
